Eminent American senator and statesman (1813–1861), dubbed the “Little Giant,” perhaps best remembered for his role in the Lincoln-Douglas debates during the 1858 campaign for the Senate race in Illinois. Ink signature, “Very truly yours, S. A. Douglas,” on an off-white 7.5 x 2 slip. In fine condition, with toning, light vertical fold and a few wrinkles, a few stray ink marks, and paperclip impression to blank portion. R&R COA.
