Perils of Pauline star who died from cirrhosis of the liver at age 49. In 1914, she starred in The Perils of Pauline and The Exploits of Elaine. She became an international star and was the leading heroine of serial films for the next several years. White's alcohol use increased over the years and she suffered chronic pain from injuries resulting from her film stunts. In 1933 she was hospitalized, which led to an addiction to pain-killers. Her last few years were spent in an alcoholic fog. Vintage sepia 3.5 x 5.5 postcard portrait, signed in fountain pen.
