Lansky cuts a check two weeks before his wedding to Teddy

Legendary organized crime leader. Lansky was the godfather of the national crime syndicate that emerged in the early 1930s as successor of the warring Prohibition gangs as well as the old-line Mafia. Forming friendships and alliances with Lucky Luciano and Bugsy Siegel, Lansky directed Murder, Inc. Check, 6.5 x 2.75, filled out and signed by Lansky, payable to Wood, Dolson Co., Inc. for $349.94, December 1, 1948. In fine condition, with typical cancellation holes and bank stamps, a vertical fold to the left, with nothing affecting clean signature area. Meyer and Teddy married on December 16th, 1948, and took a delayed honeymoon to Italy the following June, to see Charlie "Lucky" Luciano and his wife, Ilsa. While they were away, Teddy hired Oscar Hammerstein II’s wife, Dorothy, to decorate an apartment for them in New York’s Murray Hill district. COA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
