Four ALSs from the builder of the Monitor

Army engineer who designed and built the ironclad Monitor for the U.S. government. Terrific lot of four ALSs, each signed “J. Ericsson,” dated between September 5 and October 3, 1859. Excerpts include: “I have already stated my opinion regrading Mr. Pluss’ [?] bill sum…I did so at length and regard that you did not take care of the document…” Another excerpt reads: “You will much oblige me by ordering M[?] Clute to send you a left handed 24-in engine complete with…starting gear and without…Let this be counted among the engines which Clute is now making.” In very good condition, with expecting mild toning, a few office notations, rough left edges where removed from a ledger or binder and small amount of adhesive residue on reverse of each.
