Description

From Buster Keaton and family to Lew Cody

At six months of age, Buster Keaton tumbled down a flight of stairs unharmed and was given the name "Buster" by Harry Houdini who, along with W.C. Fields, Bill Robinson ("Bojangles"), Eddie Cantor and Al Jolson shared headlines with The Three Keatons: Buster, his father Joe Keaton and mother Myra Keaton. Their act, one of the most dangerous in vaudeville, was about how to discipline a prankster child. Buster was thrown all over the stage and even into the audience. By the time Buster reached 21 years of age, his father was so alcoholic the stunts became too dangerous to perform and the act dissolved. Vintage sepia glossy 10 x 8 photo of young Buster and his parents on stage, signed and inscribed by Joe Keaton in fountain pen “To Lew Cody, Oct. 4th, 1932, From the 3 Keatons, Joe Myra and Buster 1899.” Lew Cody was a then-famous actor who had appeared in almost one hundred films. In fine condition, with scattered light creasing, corner creases and bends. Great association! PSA/DNA COA and R&R COA.
