Ray reveals: “We obtained considerable more FBI documents, which indicated strongly that one Cartha D. Deloach, the FBI liaison to Pres. Johnson in 1967–68, was responsible for the MLK homicide”

Lot of seven signed items: five 5 x 3 cards signed in ballpoint, three also including the date “June 1991” and/or additional notations. Also including is a notarized copy of a writ of habeas corpus related to Ray’s case, 18 pages, June 10, 1991, signed by Ray on the final page, and reading in part: “[There is evidence] that the Tennessee Attorney General’s office in Memphis, Tennessee, has either destroyed, or is concealing, a transcript of the testimony of Charles Q. Stephens (which would tend to exculpate Petitioner in the MLK murder), a material witness in the MLK case.” Rounding out the lot is Ray’s ALS transmitting the writ, which reads, in part: “The information therein is in essence what will be presented in my auto-biography: Who Killed Martin Luther King, to be published in October 1991.... We obtained considerable more FBI documents, which indicated strongly that one Cartha D. Deloach, the FBI liaison to Pres. Johnson in 1967–68, was responsible for the MLK homicide.” Accompanied by a TLS from Ray’s brother transmitting signed items and numerous unsigned copies of documents related to Ray’s case. In fine condition, with mild handling wear. R&R COA.
