Lot of seven items, five signed by J. Edgar Hoover, and one signed by Clarence M. Kelley, Director of the FBI in the 1970s. The lot includes four TLSs and Hoover’s FBI autograph card. A letter to George White of the Tampa Tribune, dated February 2, 1940, reads, in part: “I have just received the originals of your cartoons entitled ‘What’s Up’ and ‘Soaked’ which appeared in recent editions of the Tampa Tribune. I appreciate your thoughtfulness in making these originals available to me…as an addition to my collection of cartoons dealing with the work of the Federal Bureau…Special Agent Bryant has advised me of your series of cartoons dealing with the Dillinger and Barker gangs. I appreciate your kind offer to send them to me and I would certainly enjoy looking them over.” The seventh piece is an unsigned Remarks of J. Edgar Hoover, undated, titled The Courage of Free Men.
