Diminutive second baseman for the Chicago Cubs who was the cornerstone in the legendary Tinker-Evers-Chance double-play combination. Very scarce and desirable ANS signed “John J. Evers 43,” one page, 8 x 5.25, November 2, 1943. In full: “To my good friend and admirer Sam Rex with kindest personal regards.” Beneath his signature, Evers adds, “Tinker to Evers to Chance”; he then pens and signs (“J. E.”) a postscript, in full: “Sorry I have not autographs of Tinker or Chance for you.” In fine condition, with light toning, and two light vertical folds with short edge separations, well away from writing.
