In part, “I have your favor…asking that the steel plate of Mrs. Fillmore may remain with Mr. Butler till Sept. to enable you to take some additional engravings and I most cheerfully grant your request…I have looked over your volume with a good deal of satisfaction & regret that your application to me for some facts came after I was committed in honor to another, which I will not characterize.” Matted and framed, so both sides are visible, with a color tinted engraved portrait of Fillmore, to an overall size of 17.25 x 14.5. In fine condition, with light toning to top and right edge, not affecting legibility. R&R COA.
