Partially printed DS, signed “R.B. Hayes,” one page, 8 x 10, May 13, 1879. Hayes authorizes the Secretary of State to affix the Seal of the United States to a warrant for the pardon of Thomas L. Turk. The document itself is an interesting early example of facsimile duplication, i.e., the body of the text is printed in “handwriting” rather than in the more usual type of the period. In fine condition, with usual folds (away from signature) and secretarial notations, faint paperclip impression, and some very subtle scattered toning. R&R COA.
