Wm. Henry Harrison, Lt. Comm.

American president who made a name for himself in the early Indian Wars and was rewarded with the governorship of the Indiana Territories. He is most famous for his victory over the Shawnee chief, Tecumseh, at the battle at Tippecanoe Creek (November 7, 1811). The incident earned Harrison the nickname "Old Tippecanoe." After serving in the House and the Senate, Harrison won the presidency in 1840. He gave a long inaugural speech in the snow and died a month later from pneumonia. Fountain pen signature, “Park Horse Department, Robt. Gayle [?], Wm. H. Harrison, Lt. Comm,” on an off-white 3.5 x 2.5 sheet cut from a longer letter or document. In very good condition, with overall toning, largely from adhesive residue on reverse. R&R COA.
