Douglass places two juveniles in Reform School for “incorrigibility.”

Former slave who lent his eloquently powerful voice to the abolitionist movement. DS, signed “Fredk. Douglass,” one page, 8.5 x 7, U. S. Marshal’s Office letterhead, March 29, 1878. As US Marshall for Washington, DC, Douglass directs Warden J. S. Crocker to place two prisoners in the U. S. jail in the District of Columbia for placement in reform school for “incorrigibility.” In fine condition, with light toning and a bisecting horizontal fold. R&R COA.
