The U.S. presidential election of 1976 followed the resignation of President Richard M. Nixon in the wake of the Watergate scandal. It pitted incumbent President Gerald Ford against the relatively unknown former governor of Georgia, Jimmy Carter. Ford was hindered by a slow economy and paid a political price for his pardon of Nixon. Carter ran as an outsider and a reformer and narrowly eked out a victory. Glossy 10 x 8 photo of Mr. and Mrs. Ford with Mr. and Mrs. Carter, signed by all four in the wide border beneath the image in black felt tip. In fine condition, with tiny smudge to a letter of Ford’s signature. According to the photographer’s notation on the reverse, this was taken on November 22, 1976. R&R COA.
