According to the book A Life In Letters, Reagan always found time for people who were uninvolved in his political world, like the Sisco sisters and their mentally handicapped brother, Joseph. When the Siscos wrote Gov. Reagan in 1972 asking for assistance, Reagan found state programs that would help them and also responded personally. They were in need of a rocking chair, and Reagan sent his own rocking chair as well as a personal check. This is another letter to the Sisco sisters, “Miss Sam” and “Miss Bertha,” regarding the Christmas present they’ve sent the Reagans. TLS signed “Ronald,” one page, 7 x 9, White House letterhead, February 1, 1984. In part: “I had never received your December letter or the beautiful leather pictures. Maybe the problem…From now on the name is Kathy Osborne. Under separate cover I’m sending some pictures for Buzzy. When we’re at the ranch we’ll try to get some pictures of us and your beautiful art work. You know our agreement is that your two beautiful leather engravings are for last Christmas and next Christmas. So we can say we’ve gotten our present a month late or eleven months early. Anyway, Nancy and I thank you very, very much.” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. In fine condition. R&R COA.
