Andrew Jackson free franked address panel to the man who wrote part of his first inaugural address

Free franked envelope address panel, 5.25 x 3, addressed in Jackson’s hand to “Major Wm. B. Lewis, Treasury Department, City of Washington, District of Columbia.” Franked across the top, “Free Andrew Jackson.” Notation on reverse, written in another hand, reads, “written October 1839.” Lewis wrote part of Jackson’s first inaugural address and became Auditor of the Treasury in 1829 and remained with the Treasury Department until 1845. In fine condition, with light blue circular postmark over first word of address and approaching “Free,” and a bit of mild soiling. COA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
