Wrote Roots, one of the most celebrated novels of the 1970s. Lot of two letters to Rex, each signed “Alex,” both dated 1966. An ALS, in part: “Enjoyed meeting you in Watts with Budd Schulberg (one of the true great wrters of our time.)…only a few days before, at Playboy in Chicago, I had been telling my editor how much I enjoyed your article” and a TLS, in part: “Looks like I won’t get into Europe this month. I’m to go to London to do Playboy interview for football star Jimmy Brown and the actress Juli [sic] Christie. Will you still be abroad…it would be great to drop in on you where you’re working.” In overall fine condition, with edge toning and a few creases to the edge of one letter. R&R COA.
