Memo from Beat The Devil producer Jack Clayton to Humphrey Bogart, detailing the purchases made in Paris for the film. Memo reads, in part, “I list below the final amounts for costumes and wigs purchased in Paris together with the expenses incurred by various firms in carrying out fittings etc.…The original costumes for Jennifer Jones were ordered and made by Schiaparelli. You will recall that with the exception of one dress and a few accessories, these clothes were all turned down by Miss Jones.” Total amount owed is over two million francs, and the document is signed on the second page by Clayton. Bogart writes on the left side of the first page, “This is the kind of crap we were putting up with. H. D. B.” In fine condition, with punch holes and staple to top edge, light mailing folds and a touch of toning. R&R COA.
