Lot of two TLS written to Perle Mesta in Washington, D.C., both on his personal stationery. The first is dated January 4, 1961, and is a thank-you note for being remembered at Christmas; the second, dated May 19, 1966, reads, in part: “Please accept my warm thanks for your kind message and interest on my eighty-second birthday.” The letters are accompanied by the original mailing envelopes.
