Order from the Connecticut Comptroller’s Office, signed by Wolcott

In 1774 the Continental Congress appointed him a Commissioner of Indian Affairs in order to secure a treaty at the council at Albany. He was elected to the Congress in 1775. Wolcott was not very active in Congress. He was more concerned with military affairs and suffered a bought with serious illness in 1776. He was not present for the occasion of the Declaration, but signed it some time later. DS, one page, 6.75 x 3.5, State of Connecticut letterhead, March 13, 1789. An order from the Connecticut Comptroller’s Office to pay Captain Martin Kellogg five shillings. In very good condition, with a rather large cancellation hole touching several letters of the signature. R&R COA.
