Salk lot including a letter stating that “Contact with Sabin was interesting...” at World Health Organization meeting

Co-discoverer of the polio vaccine. Wonderful lot of four items includes: a sheet of eight postage stamps “Honoring Those Who Helped Fight Polio,” signed “Jonas E. Salk” in blue ink on the sheet beneath the stamps; a three-page ALS to “Dear Doc,” signed “Jonas,” dated Wednesday, 31 January 1962, which reads, in part: “I’m satisfied that the WHO suggested plan for the future of vaccines generally is now sound and is as you, too, would write it. Contact with Sabin was interesting, also with Edsall who - was author of AMA report adopted…Story from Russia is fascinating. Last word has not yet been uttered on live virus vaccine - when it is, the word may be DEAD…” ; a one page ALS signed “Jonas,” dated May 16, 1960; and, an unsigned glossy 3.75 x 5 photo of Salk vaccinating a young child. In overall fine condition, with unobtrusive pencil notations to the letters. R&R COA.
