The Gray Ghost...author

Confederate ranger whose guerrilla band specialized in attacking and disrupting Union supply lines. Mosby’s nickname, The Gray Ghost, was derived from his clandestine attack tactics. ALS signed “Jno S. Mosby,” one page, 8 x 9.25, Department of Justice letterhead, August 21, 1906. Letter to Joseph Gwen. In full, “By request of the Editor I have written a series of war sketches for the Sunday Magazine. This magazine is issued as a supplement by a newspaper syndicate on Sundays - included in it are the Baltimore Herald, Washington Sunday Star, New York Tribune, Phila. Press - Chicago Record Herald. The publication will begin next Sunday. I give you this notice as they may interest you. I suppose there is a newspaper dealer in Bristol who can furnish these to you. I hope to pay you a visit in October. My kind regards to your wife, Sam King and John Saunders.” Matted and framed with a full length portrait of Mosby and a biographical plaque, to an overall size of 25.5 x 25.
