Description

Rare signature of Mao, obtained at a party for Cuban dignitaries a month before the Cuban Missile Crisis

Chinese communist leader, founder of the People’s Republic of China. Very rare ink signature in Chinese on the reverse of a light pink 6.75 x 4.25 invitation to a farewell party held on September 7, 1962, at the Bejing Convention Center. Printed under the signature is, “Autografo del lider dla Revolucion China, Mao-Set Tung, Sept. 7 de 1962.” Party was quite possibly held for visiting Cuban dignitaries, as the convention center was used for only the most important events. Card is matted to an overall size of 7.5 x 5. In fair to good condition, with uniform overall fading due to matting, scattered foxing and light soiling and few tears far from the signature. R&R COA.
