Description

As the presidential election approaches, Truman looks to a bright future: “It seems we have to win in 1960”

TLS, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, November 6, 1959. Letter to Democratic National Committee member Theodore Green. In part, “I certainly wish I could be present…for the Nationalities Division Anniversary. Much to my regret, it is just not possible for me to be there. I sincerely hope that your statement in the last paragraph of your letter will come about; it seems we have to win in 1960.” Signed at the bottom in black ink by Truman, who writes under his signature, “You’ve always been tops in my book!” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. In fine condition, with small pencil notation to top corner and some light mirroring of postscript from premature folding. R&R COA.
