Description

Not mincing words, Joplin supports her boyfriend’s decision, “I don’t think you’re all f#@&ed up & irrational. Whatever you decide will be the right thing, I know it”

Unsigned partial ALS, one page, 6 x 8, no date. Page three of a letter to then-boyfriend Peter, written in 1965, two years before her breakthrough performance at the Monterey Pop Festival. In part, “Don’t worry what I’m going to think in your decisions - do what you think is best…I don’t think you’re all fucked up & irrational. Whatever you decide will be the right thing, I know it. So, don’t worry about my misinterpreting anything, just do what you think is best. However, I would advise you letting me in on it & trying to keep me abreast of everything.” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in Joplin’s hand and postmarked October 8, 1965. In fine condition, with a light bisecting mailing fold. COA Roger Epperson/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
