Signature of Sam Houston

Attracted to the struggle for Texan independence, he led the Texan army at the battle of San Jacinto and became the first president of the Republic of Texas. After the admission of Texas as a state, he became a senator. He was the governor of Texas, but was deposed when he refused to swear allegiance to the Confederate States of America. Fountain pen signature, “Sam Houston,” on an off-white 6 x 3 slip, clipped from a larger document. In fine condition, with a bit of scattered light toning and a fingerprint over portion of large paraph. R&R COA.
