American jurist who served as an associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court (1962–1965) and a representative to the United Nations (1965–1968). TLS, one page, 5.75 x 9.25, Supreme Court of the United States letterhead, February 28, 1963. In part: “…I am extremely sorry to inform you that I have never received either the photograph of President Kennedy and his Cabinet or the follow up letter…I have made a thorough check into both my home files and the files here in my chambers and am sorry to say I find no record in either place of the receipt of the photograph or the letter…I know how disappointing this must be to you and just hope that you will be able to get another photograph to send to me; I shall be very glad to autograph it for you.” In fine condition, with faint paper clip impression to upper right corner.
