Garibaldi demands satisfaction from an Italian newspaper, “My letter has been most entirely mutilated. I want you to correct it in your next newspaper.”

Italian military and nationalist leader famous for his Redshirt attack on Sicily in May 1860. LS in French, signed “G. Garibaldi,” one lightly lined page, 8.5 x 8, October 27, 1872. Letter to his friend pointing out errors in one of his letters published in a paper. In full, “I have seen my letter to you in the Italian newspapers and I have found the following errors in them. Immoral instead of Immortal, Belfort instead of Belfast. My letter has been most entirely mutilated. I want you to correct it in your next newspaper.” In fine condition, with rough bottom edge, several vertical folds and light mounting remnants to reverse of each corner. R&R COA.
