Most decorated US soldier of WWII who went on to write his autobiography, To Hell and Back. It was then made into a film in which he starred. Until the release of Jaws, it was Universal’s highest-grossing film. Murphy became addicted to sleeping pills, was a prodigious gambler and had success as a race horse owner and breeder (having interests in such great horses as Depth Charge). Also had success as country music songwriter. Terrific vintage 8 x 9 magazine photo of the young Murphy, signed in fountain pen, matted to an overall size of 11 x 16.
