Archive consisting of ten letters on Crawford’s personal stationery, all written to a fan/friend named Anita between March 18, 1955 and January of 1973. The three earlier letters are signed “Joan Crawford,” and the following seven are signed “Joan.” Excerpts from the lot include: “I just finished Female on the Beach and next week production starts on The Queen Bee at Columbia. Easter will soon be here and the children are anticipating spring vacation...” From another letter: “...I am so busy trying to pack for us as we are taking the children to Europe for Christmas and New Year’s in St. Moritz...We will tour part of France before returning home...” From another letter: We had such a delightful time in Europe. The children had a wonderful time in the snow, and my husband and I got a much needed rest. Switzerland is an enchanting country...” A letter dated June 1957 reads, in part, “My husband and I have just returned from a trip to Bermuda. This was my first trip to this beautiful island...I am packing for another tour...” A letter dated April 28, 1961, reads, in part: “I have been working long hours on my autobiography with Jane Ardmore, who is helping me write it...it should be published in the fall or winter...”From later in 1961: “I have just returned from two lovely weeks in Europe and I dedicated new plants for Pepsi-Cola Company in Geneva and Lausanne and in Milan...I also spent a glorious weekend in Paris...” From April of 1967, in part: “I’m glad you enjoyed seeing me on The Man from UNCLE. Yes, Herbert Lom is an excellent actor and a joy to work with. My new film, Berserk (formerly titled Circus of Blood) will be released in the Summer...” In fine condition, with typical letter folds, edge toning to a few. R&R COA.
