Bandleader and composer nicknamed “The March King.” A brilliant man who sought to reach a mass audience through his music, he formed his own band in 1892 and carefully selected the music to include in his band’s repertoire. ALS signed “John Phil. Sousa,” one page, 5.5 x 7.5, The Stafford letterhead, no date. Short and quickly penned letter to a gentleman. In part, “Many thanks for yours…Most sincerely, John Phil. Sousa.” In very good condition, with tape remnants to each corner and left edge, several pencil notations and a block of toning to lower left. R&R COA.
