Description

Paul Kruger (Stephanus Johannes Paulus) was known as the “father of the Afrikaner nation” and his firm belief in the destiny of the Afrikaner, his strong faith and his obedience to his God characterized his life. In 1883 he was elected president of the South African Republic. He proceeded to negotiate the SAR’s complete independence from Britain in 1884 at the London convention. Untranslated DS in Dutch, 8.5 x 13.5, Door Zijn Hoogedele den Staatspresident der Z.A. Rupubliek letterhead, March 19, 1898, as president of the South African Republic. In very good condition, with expecting age toning, a couple of official stamps, ink office notations in another hand and file holes to left border where the document was removed from a file.
