The last of the reigning Stuarts okays a £400 payment

The final Stuart monarch. The most significant constitutional act in her reign was the Act of Union in 1707, which created Great Britain by finally fully uniting England and Scotland. DS, signed “Anne R.,” one page, 8.75 x 13, August 3, 1713. Queen Anne authorizes payment of “the like allowance of salary of Four hundred pounds…and we do hereby direct and authorize you out of such money.” Signed along the top by the Queen. Triple cloth matted and framed to an overall size of 20.25 x 25.5. In very good condition, with professional restoration to lower right corner, some scattered soiling and expected folds.
