President Benjamin Harrison appoints Howard Gage to the “grade of Passed Assistant Engineer with the relative rank of Lieutenant Junior grade.” Signed at the bottom by Harrison and countersigned by Secretary of the Navy B. F. Tracy. In very good condition, with heavy document folds, scattered light toning, a bit heavier to the edges, worn seal and some light foxing, with nothing affecting signature. R&R COA.
