Description

An unusually colorful Hoover missive: “It was merely a catalogue answer to ‘What were Mr. Hoover’s policies?’ ‘What did Hoover Do?’ ‘He did nothing!’”

TLS, one page, 7.5 x 10.5, personal letterhead, August 29, 1935. In part: “If it were sought to expand that stuff much, it would get too long. It was merely a catalogue answer to ‘What were Mr. Hoover’s policies?’ ‘What did Hoover Do?’ ‘He did nothing!’ It would take more words that the whole of this to explain the Stand-still agreement alone. It can be improved; is urgent. I don’t think other papers would want to run it at all. It needs much revision, so think about it.” In fine condition, with a horizontal fold skirting one letter of the signature, light edge toning. R&R COA.
