Mexican President to American Vice President: “I could help you legally in what you proposed.”

Mexican general and politician; President of Mexico 1877-1880 and 1884-1911, LS in Spanish, one page, 8.25 x 10.5, elaborately embossed in gold and silver with his intertwined initials, “PD” letterhead, February 19, 1892. A letter to American Vice President Adlai Stevenson. Translated, in part: “I have the pleasure to repeat what we talked about in our conference. I could help you legally in what you proposed. I’ll talk to the Director of Housing. I will make a special recommendation for you.” Boldly signed at the conclusion. In fine condition, with minor water staining to the left edge and a vertical fold through a letter of the large, bold signature. R&R COA.
