Description

The son of George I, born in 1683, became King of Britain and Elector of Hanover upon his father's death in 1727. George II became the last British monarch to take part in battle when, during the War of Austrian Succession, he took the field as commander of the British army at the battle of Dettingen (1743), which he won. DS, signed “George R,” one page, 13.5 x 9.75, March 11, 1755. King George promotes Ralph Teesdale to the rank of First Lieutenant to the thirty-sixth company of Marines. Signed in the top left corner in black ink by George. In very good condition, with three paper seals to left edge, scattered light toning, some lightly affecting signature, several moderate folds and some light wrinkling. R&R COA.
