TLS marked “Private” in TR’s hand, one page, 7.75 x 9.5, Oyster Bay letterhead, November 20, 1915. Letter to the editor of Woman’s Home Companion. In part, “Through you I wish as an American, as a lover of peace but a believer in courage and as a man who believes in equality of rights for men and for women, to thank with all my heart the woman who wrote in the November number of your magazine on page 23 the article which concluded with the statement that she did raise her boy to be a soldier and that if every mother in the country would do the same, then we would be safe forever from all danger of war. I shall use what this woman said in something I am about writing.” In good condition, with moderate toning and staining to right edge, also resulting in some fading to last name of signature, bisecting horizontal mailing fold, brush to “Private” notation above greeting and some scattered minor creasing. COA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
