ALS from Inventor James Watt

British instrument maker and engineer (1736-1819) who developed an efficient steam engine which was a universal source of power and provided one of the most essential technological components of the early industrial revolution. The watt, a unit of power, was named after him, and he also defined horsepower. ALS, one page, 4.5 x 7, October 25. Letter to an unidentified gentleman. In part, “This serves to introduce Mr. Biot of the National Institute of France, whose fame as a natural philosopher has probably reached you. Your civilities to him will much oblige me.
