Four language ship’s paper issued to “Joseph Richards master or commander of the brig called Oliver Wolcott of the burden of 178 29/95 tons or thereabouts, lying at present in the port of New Orleans bound for Liverpool and laden with Sundries as per Clearance.” Signed in the middle, “Th: Jefferson,” and further below “James Madison.” Impressively double matted and framed with sitting portraits of Jefferson and Madison, to an overall size of 42 x 23.5.
