“I place so little value on my autograph...but very rarely acknowledge applications relative thereto.”

Union commander nicknamed Old Fuss and Feathers for his love of military pageantry. ALS, one page, 4.5 x 6, December 27, 1832. Letter to a tenacious collector. In part, “I place so little value on my autograph…but very rarely acknowledge applications relative thereto. Your perseverance has however, prevailed.” Accompanied by the original free franked mailing envelope, addressed and franked by Scott, but affixed by the front panel to a larger sheet. In very good condition, with scattered toning and spotting. R&R COA.
