Description

Hitler’s deputy. Hess was condemned to life imprisonment for war crimes in the Nuremberg Trials. He eventually became the only inmate in Berlin’s Spandau Prison, where he committed suicide after failed attempts by his children to have him released. TLS in German, signed “R. Hess,” one page both sides, 8.25 x 11.75, NSDAP letterhead, July 14, 1938. Letter to Josef Buerckel, Reich Commisar of Austria, who was to incorporate Austria into the Reich. In part, “The plant cell worker’s employed…are now being converted to plant worker’s representatives of the German Labor front. I must object to this ruling, since it conflicts with the basic opinion of the Fuehrer…my Chief of Staff, Reichsleiter Party Member Bormann, called attention to a declaration by the Fuehrer, according to which the GLF is by no means the organization of all workers.” In fine condition, with punch and staple holes to left edge, some mild toning and expected folds. R&R COA.
