Major General 1st Virginia Cavalry who fought at Chancellorsville and Spotsylvania, Governor of Virginia, and Robert E. Lee’s nephew. ALS, one page, 4.75 x 8, Governor, Commonwealth of Virginia letterhead, June 30, 1887. Letter to a gentleman preceding a visit. In part, “Your kind note rec’d. I will take the Steamer Seneca at Norfolk, Saturday evening.” In fine condition, with a bisecting horizontal mailing fold. R&R COA.
