Lot of two items: Stampless cover hand-addressed by then-Governor Polk of Tennessee (August 23, 1841); and a lengthy ALS from John Y. Mason as Polk’s Secretary of the Navy, written on December 16, 1848 to Senator Gulee. It reads, in part: “I concur entirely in your views but have not the information which would enable me to present a list that would approximate the actual condition of things…” and is signed “J.Y. Mason.” Both in fine condition, with bit of smudging to addressee’s name of the cover. R&R COA.
