Description

Letter from Samuel Colt

Inventor of the revolver. His factory was one of the most innovative in its use of mass-production technique, and the Colt "six shooter" caught on with individuals—especially in the American West—but not with the U.S. Army. He directed Colt's Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Company until his death. LS signed “Sam. Colt,” one page, 5 x 8, no date. Letter to Major William B. Hartley. In full, “Brown successful. You must get through if possible & meet directors Wednesday. Ask Toney to call with you upon Floid.” In fine condition, with several bisecting mailing folds and a few faint areas of toning. COA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
