TLS signed 'Wm. H. Taft,' one page, 6.5 x 9, White House letterhead, March 8, 1909. Letter to a Central American official. In part, 'It would gratify me very much to see you in Washington because of my former friendship and the pleasant acquaintance of Mrs. Taft and myself with Madame Pezet, but it would hardly be proper for me to send any intimation of this character to the President of your Republic, whose choice in this matter I should not feel justified in trying to influence.' Matted and framed with a small image of Taft, to an overall size of 12.5 x 16. In very good condition, with overall brushing to the signature. RRAuction COA.
