A poet and satirist, Byron was born into nobility and inherited his title. He went to college and served in the House of Lords before attempting to finish his first poetic work, 'Hours of Idleness,' which was poorly received. He lived with the Shelleys for a time and fought to liberate Greece from Turkey. His heroes are today remembered as melancholy, defiant young men and he is considered one of the finest English poets. Hand addressed and signed mailing envelope, 4.25 x 3, addressed in Byron's hand to 'Mrs. Anderton, Ripley Park, Yorkshire,' adding 'London' at the top and signing in the lower left corner 'Byron.' Double cloth matted and framed with a small portrait of Byron and a name plaque, to an overall size of 10.5 x 16. In very good condition, with light overall soiling and toning, postmark to right edge, some show through from notations on reverse and all Byron's writing bold and legible.
