Nicely penned Thomas Moore letter

Poet, born in Dublin. His best-known work, Irish Melodies, including such memorable poems as The Last Rose of Summer, was set to music and aroused sympathy for the Irish nationalists among London's nobility. ALS, one page, 7.25 x 9, June 15, 1819. Letter to James Thomas. In full, “It was the night before I left here that I had the pleasure of receiving your volume, for which, I beg you to accept my best thanks. It will give me great pleasure to acknowledge your kindness in person when I return to town & make the exchange which you so very flatteringly propose.” Matted and framed with the original mailing envelope panel, addressed in Moore’s hand and a 19th century engraved portrait, to an overall size of 23 x 20.5. In fine condition, with expected folds and light offsetting of portrait on to letter, not affecting signature. R&R COA. Oversized.
