Description

Signed Reagan Document With Content Regarding The Threat of Communist Infiltration In Hollywood

DS, six pages, 8.5 x 11, April 20, 1955. Minutes of the meeting of the Motion Picture Industry Council. Reagan served as the Secretary of the Council. Fascinating content regarding the MPIC's desire for 'government approval for a Hollywood film festival...,' concerns from clergy in the press that 'Hollywood is changing the Bible,' and discussion of a letter in which the writer felt 'the manner in which the motion picture industry handled the threat of Communist infiltration in the movies would serve as a fine example of the American way of doing things...' Boldly signed 'Ronald Reagan' in blue ink as Secretary on page 5. In fine condition. This document provides an excellent association between President Reagan and McCarthyism in Hollywood. Reagan wrote in his autobiography that he was against McCarthy's red scare tactics and did what he could to fight it. COA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
