Free spirit Kerouac pays the IRS!

Novelist; On the Road, The Dharma Bums, etc. His nonconformist, unedited style made him the leader and spokesman for the Beat generation. Born Jean-Louis Kerouac, a French-Canadian child in working-class Lowell, Massachusetts, he spoke a local dialect of French called 'joual' before he learned English. He died at the age of 47, a result of alcoholism. Rare personal check, 6.25 x 2.75, filled out and signed by Kerouac, payable to the Internal Revenue Service for 325.00, April 6, 1960. In fine condition, with cancellation holes to top left and light show through from stamp on reverse, lightly affecting signature. COA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
