Description

'I'm enclosing a picture of Jimmy from a scene in Giant. I wish I could send you something of his but I only have a few things of his and I would never part with them.'

Actor best remembered for his role as Johnny Yuma in the television series, The Rebel. He appeared in many films in the 1950s and was often cast in the "troubled young man" part, much like his good friend, James Dean. He was nominated for an Oscar for his performance in 1963's "Twilight of Honor." He died in 1968 from a prescription drug overdose. ALS, one page, both sides, 7.25 x 10.25, personal letterhead, no date. In part: 'I think you're wonderful for thinking so much of Jimmy. I've just written a story about him in the Sept. issue of Screen Stars. He was the most wonderful, kindest guy in the whole world. The article about Jimmy and Vampira was not true. Jimmy smoked Viceroys most of the time. I'm enclosing a picture of Jimmy from a scene in Giant. I wish I could send you something of his but I only have a few things of his and I would never part with them. Jimmy would have liked you very much if he had known you.' In fine condition, with light edge toning, scattered light creasing, affecting nothing. RRAuction COA.
